Loan report- Zelalem assists; Szczesny makes good save

Gedion Zelalem played the whole game and set up a goal as Rangers thrashed Queen of the South 5-1. The midfielder’s pass found Jason Holt, who finished well. Zelalem was also the victim of an unnecessary challenge that occurred whilst he was on the ground.

Wojciech Szczesny played the whole game and made an impressive save but was beaten late on as Roma defeated Juventus 2-1.

Chuba Akpom missed an opportunity and was booked as Hull City beat Preston North End 2-0. The striker was replaced in the 83rd minute by fellow Arsenal loanee Isaac Hayden.

Wellington played 79 minutes before being substituted as Bolton Wanderers drew 0-0 with Blackburn Rovers. The winger received a yellow card but was also involved in some intelligent approach play.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles received a yellow card and was substituted at half-time as Ipswich Town lost 3-2 to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Jon Toral played 54 minutes before being withdrawn as Birmingham City beat MK Dons 2-0. The midfielder created a chance for Demarai Gray and, shortly afterwards, was replaced by Jacques Maghoma.

Dan Crowley was introduced at the start of the second-half as Barnsley were beaten 3-0 by Rochdale.

Serge Gnabry was an un-used substitute as West Bromwich Albion beat Stoke City 1-0.

Yaya Sanogo was an un-used substitute as Ajax beat ADO Den Haag 4-0.

Carl Jenkinson missed West Ham United 3-0 victory against Liverpool through suspension.

  1. Gnarly needs to play. When sent on loan surely there should be an agreement that gameplay is a requirement ? If not given a chance cancel the loan and loan him to a club where he will play.

    1. It is early in the season and GnaBry needs to build his fitness up, WBA are pleased with him and the fans want to see more of him, he isn’t going to start every game from day 1 though.

He went on loan to build his fitness up as well as get games, not get games at the expence of his fitness. Gnabry looks like a real talent and will get game time, lets chill until at Jan?

  2. Zelalem has played two full 90 minute games for Rangers, in under a week.

He seems to have settled in well, which will benefit all concerned.

    1. I think he’ll get a lot of fairly easy games at Rangers. Once you’ve scored 3 goals, there really isn’t much pressure.

      1. Well im a Rangers fan and let me tell you this first 2 home crowds of 49,000 fans does not matter the league. There are a handful of teams in the whole uk who can better that and this is why we will return this with more strength. And the other 2 loanees along with other payer Mark has brought in let me tell you the best football i have seen them play in over 4 years. Savage have to say u are way of the mark. This new team is the reason we are getting Ibrox full, well i suppose. Any way the Rangers fans in just 2 games are grateful for his services and im sure he will want to impress 49,000 fans.

      2. what the hell do you mean by ‘fairly easy games’??? have you watched the games?!! Zelalem was outstanding. u’r just a hater.

  3. Was impressed by Wilmington Silva. Lots of pace, good foot work and smart. He needs to watch his temper. He kept driving Bolton forward.

Gnabry will be a star at West Brom, he needs to lose the added weight put on during the injury period. Fitness will come in time. He will be good by Christmas and then will be unstoppable.
