Loan report- Vickers impresses; Podolski back in favour for Inter

Lukas Podolski was restored to the starting line-up and played the whole game on the left flank as Inter Milan beat Atalanta 4-1.

Joel Campbell played the full game and was booked as Villarreal were beaten 2-0 by Rayo Vallecano.

Carl Jenkinson played the whole game as West Ham United were trounced 4-0 by West Bromwich Albion.

Wellington played 80 minutes before being withdrawn as Almeria drew 2-2 with Real Sociedad on Friday.

Jon Toral was introduced for the final 31 minutes of Brentford’s 3-0 loss against Charlton Athletic. The Spanish midfielder sent a shot over the crossbar.

Josh Vickers made three superb saves as Concord Rangers drew 0-0 with Boreham Wood.

Ryo wasn’t part of the Twente squad for their 4-2 defeat to Ajax.

Yaya Sanogo missed Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool because of injury.

Matt Macey has returned to Arsenal following his loan spell with Accrington Stanley. The goalkeeper conceded 11 goals in four games.

  1. I thought that Sanogo missed the game because he was not eligible for the FA Cup. He had been involved with Arsenal in previous rounds.
If he is injured again and it is a muscle injury, I would question Arsenal conditioning. Sanogo, Ramsey, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, seem to spend more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.

  2. “…If he is injured again and it is a muscle injury, I would question Arsenal conditioning. ”

Arsenal’s management of players’ health can well be questioned…but Sanogo would not be any evidence. The had broken both legs as a teen, had a lot of injuries and was considering packing it in before giving one last shot and Arsenal signed him after that. Plus he is still growing, must be close to 6’4″ or 6’5″ by now – he is taller than Giroud and not done filling out. Arsenal actually had him on a personal conditioning regime for almost half a season before letting him play.

If your remember, the lines of Steven Gerrard had a lot of injuries around the same stage while still filling in his body. I wouldnt worry about Sanogo.

So he aint your example if you want to bash Wenger on this matter. And not that Wenger is innocent in this matter – he never learns and always overuses veteran players. But rarely the youths.
