Eyoma scores but Arsenal U18s still without league victory since September

U18 Premier League

Reading 2 (Davis 45, Novakovich 75) Arsenal 1 (Eyoma 82)

Arsenal U18s have now gone nine games without a league victory after they suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Reading this morning.

This was Frans De Kat’s side’s first fixture of 2015 and they started it by facing their last opponents of the previous year. However, the outcome didn’t match Arsenal’s success in the FA Youth Cup last month, with Reading taking the lead through Conor Davis on the stroke of half-time.

Reading’s victory was effectively secured when Andrija Novakovich made it 2-0, rendering Aaron Eyoma’s late goal a consolation.

Eyoma, who was one of Arsenal’s few bright sparks, has been in good goalscoring form recently and should keep his place in the side when Arsenal continue their Youth Cup campaign against Royston Town on Wednesday.

There was some good news on the injury front today, with Marc Bola returning from injury. George Dobson moved into midfield, with Savvas Mourgos dropping to the bench.

Arsenal’s next league fixture is away to Southampton next week.
