Benik Afobe continues to go from strength to strength at MK Dons, with the striker scoring a hat-trick in his side’s 6-0 thrashing of Colchester United. Afobe now has 18 goals for the season. The 21-year-old’s treble was composed of a composed strike, a deft chip and a well-timed header.

Jon Toral continued his excellent recent form by setting up the opening goal as Brentford beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0. Toral teed up Alan Judge to make it 1-0, but the Spanish midfielder had to be substituted in the 66th minute because of injury.

Carl Jenkinson played the whole game as West Ham United beat Newcastle United 1-0 yesterday. The right-back set up a chance that was squandered by Andy Carroll.

Francis Coquelin played the entirety of Charlton Athletic’s 1-0 loss to Ipswich Town. Last week the midfielder extended his stay at the Championship club until December 30th.

Austin Lipman and Josh Vickers found themselves on opposing sides as Concord Rangers took on Boreham Wood in the FA Trophy. Concord Rangers prevailed with a 4-0 victory, with Vickers having little to do, although Lipman did send an effort wide of the post.

Jack Jebb watched Stevenage’s 1-1 draw with Morecambe from the bench.

Ryo wasn’t involved as FC Twente lost 2-1 to Groningen.

Kristoffer Olsson, who has been in impressive form in recent weeks, is expected to be involved when Midtjylland take on Vestsjaelland tomorrow night.

Wellington‘s Almeria, meanwhile, take on Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

    1. Tough call. It’s only League One but then again this is his first full season since the ACL injury, isn’t it?

Yet, Giroud is 28, Welbeck 23, Sanogo 21. Tough competition!

But hopefully Wenger will give Afobe a chance to prove himself, which Aneke really never got.

Still, I would think chances are better for a guy like Akpom, who has more capability to play at premiership level in the wide striker role than maybe Afobe can do.
