Wellington goal not enough as Murcia miss out on promotion

Wellington marked his final appearance for Real Murcia with a fine individual goal, but it wasn’t enough as his loan side lost 2-1 to Cordoba in the second leg of their promotion play-off this evening. With the two sides having drawn 0-0 in the first leg, Cordoba prevailed and will play in La Liga next season.

The Brazilian, having struggled to fully impose himself during his previous loan spells, has developed a measure of consistency in Spain this season, with tonight’s goal his sixth of an impressive campaign.

After a short break, he is due to return to Arsenal for pre-season training on July 7th, and, at the age of 21 and with just over two years remaining on his contract, a firm decision on his long-term future could well be made in the next few months.

    1. Are you sure? I thought that he missed on it as he was not continuously declared as resident for two years.
