Arsenal have recalled striker Chuba Akpom from his loan spell at League One side Coventry City.
The 18 year old, who previously spent time in the same division with Brentford, made five league outings for The Sky Blues and, despite the fact that he failed to find the net whilst out on loan, the youngster has evidently benefitted in terms of his physicality and tactical understanding of the game.
With Olivier Giroud not in the best of form and Nicklas Bendtner having been isolated from the first-team set-up following his recent disciplinary problems, Akpom may well find himself in and around the senior squad upon his return to London Colney, with 21 year old Yaya Sanogo the only other attacking option.
Akpom still featured intermittently for the Arsenal youth teams whilst he was on loan, scoring in the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup, and he could have a prominent part to play when the U18s take on Chelsea in their two-legged Semi-Final in the latter competition.
The England U19 international has already featured for the Arsenal first-team, scoring four goals during the pre-season tour of Asia before proceeding to make his debuts in the Premier League and the Capital One Cup against Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion respectively.
