Reports suggest Arsenal’s Jeffrey could head to Holland

Arsenal youngster Anthony Jeffrey is on trial with RKC Waalwijk, according to reports in Holland.

The Hale End product is currently on loan at Conference South side Boreham Wood, for whom he has been in imperious form recently, but, with his Arsenal contract set to expire in the summer, the winger is assessing his options ahead of next season.

Renowned for his devastating pace, Jeffrey also made a single substitute appearance for League One side Stevenage during a loan spell last season, but has struggled to command a place in the Arsenal U21 team, having featured just four times at that level.

A move to Holland would be a little out of the ordinary for an English youngster, but the 19 year old, who featured for Arsenal’s U18 side whilst still a schoolboy, would surely benefit from regular playing time in a competitive league.

Having joined Boreham Wood on loan in early December, Jeffrey has scored six goals in nine appearances for the Hertfordshire club, with his deal there having recently been extended until March. Now, though, it appears that he could have other options.

  1. Sanogo and Afobe back in training with the first team. Lets see if any of them start or play vs Coventry. Lets see how good they will be. I favor Afobe for a start. Giroud needs some break and this is a game to rest him for at least 45min. I hope Afobe take his chances.

    1. ajayi and zelalem also in training too, really hope that ajayi gets a chance against Coventry. however, we must not slip up against lower league opposition again, wenger has to make sure these fellas are ready.

      1. I don’t know if Vermaelen will be available but if not then ajayi have a chance to start with kos or mersesacker on his side. We have a packed midfield with great players on the bench so I don’t think Zelalem have a chance to start this time or even play, unless we are leading with 4-5 goals. But upfront we have a slot open for either Park or Afobe to play. I think Giroud needs to rest. CL and the league will be very demanding the coming weeks. If we don’t play Afobe and park we have no fresh legs if Giroud or Bentner is out.

  2. This can be a good move for him. More of these young kids need to be a bit more adventurous. Dare to get more exposure and try different ways to bbild their careers. Will do England a lot of good in building a pool of players that are not spoiled primadonnas.
