It is currently unclear what exactly the future will hold for Josh Vickers beyond this season, but the goalkeeper seems determined to make the most of his loan spell with Canvey Island. He continued his impressive recent form by making several superb saves during a 2-1 victory over North Greenford United in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round.
Midfielder Chuks Aneke, meanwhile, was restored to the Crewe Alexandra starting line-up for their fixture against his former loan club Preston North End. Aneke was substituted in stoppage time during the 2-0 victory, but only after he had set up Byron Moore to open the scoring.
Wellington was an un-used substitute as Real Murcia beat Girona 1-0.
On the international front, Joel Campbell replaced Bryan Ruiz for the final half an hour of Costa Rica’s defeat to Honduras on Friday night, but the result mattered little as Costa Rica have already qualified for the 2014 World Cup.
Johan Djourou was an un-used substitute as Switzerland beat Albania 2-1, whilst Francis Coquelin and Ignasi Miquel did not have any fixtures to fulfil this weekend.
