Crowley scores but Arsenal U18s beaten by Fulham

U18 Premier League- Game 2

Arsenal 2 Fulham 4

Midfielder Dan Crowley scored his first competitive goal for Arsenal U18s, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Gunners from suffering a 4-2 defeat at the hands of their Fulham counterparts at London Colney today.

Having prevailed with a 2-1 victory in their opening game against Liverpool, Carl Laraman’s side were determined to continue their positive start to the season, but found themselves 3-2 down at the interval following an eventful first-half.

Laraman kept faith with the vast majority of the side from last week’s game, with the only change seeing Austin Lipman restored to the starting line-up in place of Chris Willock.

Arsenal’s goals came courtesy of a Leander Siemann strike which took a deflection and Crowley, who scored a fine individual effort, but they were undone all too easily at the other end on several occasions by a potent Fulham attack.

Fulham added another goal in the second-half to seal the victory, but there were still some positives to take from the day for the young Gunners, one of which was the fact that Willock received another run-out as a substitute.

Arsenal face a long trip to Sunderland next Saturday for a game that is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm.

Arsenal: Huddart; Siemann, O’Connor, Dallison, Uade; Kamara, Jebb; Maitland-Niles, Crowley, Iwobi; Lipman. Subs: Willock, Wright, Olomola.

    1. @ David, I would take a different view considering these Under 18’s are mainly 15 & 16 and the under 21’s are mainly under 18’s.

  1. Fulham are very strong at this level, they ran away with the u18 league last year, and their academy seems to have got them to play as a very well organised and fit unit. Still, its concerning how results go against us so often at this level for a few years now. A lot of our failings at this level seem to be a result of sloppiness rather than lack of talent.

Crowley and willock in particular are exciting talents. What is the chance of them being involved in the fa youth cup this year?

  2. For anyone who went to the game what did you make of Patrick Roberts of Fulham – the small white no 7 right flank left footer? And Foday Nabay if he featured. Ta.

    1. Gutted about nobay. He was a massive arsenal fan. Having said that wouldn’t mind missing out on dhanda and nobay as long as we got crowley. U16s won 4-2 as well mavididi, blanchfield, Dobson, maitland niles scored. Is kamara our only dm for u18s and u21s with nico out? Where’s mugabo?

      1. Where do you find out about the u-16 s. is there a website or do you go to the game. I’m from the US so i oviously can’t go to the games or anything.

      2. Ah yeah. My bad read miles-hinds as maitland-niles! Not on twitter but that’s where I get the u16 results from. Just search for one of afcacademy, teutsforreal or zpafc. One of them should have it. Even tried the guy jeorge Gave credit to Deanafc1989 but his tweets are protected.
