Trialist Bensebaini amongst five youngsters to train with first-team pre-Aston Villa

Algerian trialist Ramy Bensebaini was one of a quintet of youngsters who trained with the first-team today at London Colney ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League opener at home to Aston Villa.

The club are still mulling over the decision to offer a permanent deal to the centre-back, who has endured a torrid time for the U21s during pre-season. Serge Gnabry, Gedion Zelalem, Isaac Hayden and Hector Bellerin also trained today, along with the 17 available first-team players.

With options considerably scarce, at least two youngsters are set to make the bench tomorrow, with Hayden and Zelalem the most likely options. Striker Yaya Sanogo, meanwhile, recovered from injury to train today and is likely to be amongst the substitutes, whilst midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong may not yet be fit enough for competitive action.

Abou Diaby, Thomas Vermaelen, Nacho Monreal, Ryo and Mikel Arteta are all currently injured, whilst Nicklas Bendtner and Ju-Young Park are surplus to requirements and were not involved in today’s session.

The full list of the 22 players who trained today is as follows:

Szczesny, Fabianski, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolski, Jenkinson, Cazorla, Giroud, Frimpong, Sanogo, Gnabry, Zelalem, Hayden, Bellerin, Bensebaini.

      1. So that is the trialist fault ? Fans have been crying for a clear out in years, now you have it and obviously the squads are thin and have to rely on younger players … at least until new players are drafted, don’t make such conclusions

  1. I was suprised not read yennaris was there. Has he sorted his loan? What of boateng and fagan surely better than this algerian kid?

  2. i look forward to the name a trialist appearing on the bench tomorrow afternoon. hell, why not make him captain for the day?

      1. Not really, just tired of people who can only make negative comments or making fun on players or clubs expense. It is enough that the press are taking advantage of the situation, which makes it necessary for us fans to stand by each other and support our beloved club 😀

  3. Szczesny

    Sagna Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs

    Ramsey Wilshere

    Walcott Rosicky Oxlade-C

  4. I think Wenger is entirely to blame for football stagnation in Arsenal, his economic theory simply does not work beyond fourth place position, which worse still normally comes in the last game.

    1. its actually a good bench considerate injuries/lack of signing. it s a chance for hayden to impress the boss i suppose. Cole got his chance once because of injuries too, giibs got move at left back for the same reason .
the only downside right now is we havent any back up for Arteta and so we have to move Wilshere and Ramsey further back ,and i not convince its their best position .

  5. Arsene Wenger is the best manager in the premier league and the best manager in Arsenal’s history.

I am confident that we will be fine this season.

    In Wenger We Trust

  6. Napoli, Dortmund and some other teams are geting those top players we need. wtf is Arsenal doing? Last minute signings again?

    1. Perhaps unfortunately, the market has turned out quite differently than it supposed to with the implementation of Finance Fair Play in mind, but more rich teams have surfaced and apparently some of them think very short term when buying layers, like FC Anzhi as a brilliant example now, we can’t and shouldn’t compete with that off course, somebody needs to stay grounded and I am happy that Arsenal sets a perfect example even though off course like any other fan I am eagerly awaiting a couple of signings, but am foremost happy that we have kept every single wanted and necessary first team player for the first time in ages, I would rather see Gnabry, Ryo, Akpom, Eisfeld, Zelalem on the bench as I am sure they would perform better than our previous record signing Arshavin.

  7. Haha the words ‘youth’ and ‘trialist’ these days tend to instantly serve as a switch to enrage a segment of arsenal fans. Still time guys, options are always available. This is a youth website and a large portion of comments seem to direct anger towards first team affairs. Granted there’s an overlap in this article but lost of comments are completely irrelevant.

  8. This guy comes from the same academy that produced former arsenal players eboue, toure and gervinho and he was personally recomended by jean marc guillou who is a friend of wengers so he probably has got talent.

  9. Oh my dayz we are actually considering giving the algerian kid a contract when he clearly isnt hood enough. If he was english he would have got jettisoned out before he could even say arsenal. We was promised marquee singing from our 70 million pound war chest and this is our first priority. I do wonder why i support this club at times and it really hurts to say it

    1. Oh you should really go and support another club, i recommend spuds for you. We don’t need these wankers who aren’t gunners from their hearts. Let’s make the clear-out in fan base too 🙂

      1. Since when do you need to support every bad decision the club is doing? Selling great players and signing shit players are not going to help us at all. We barely took the 4th place and this year Tottenham is even stronger. In fact all the top 3 team are stronger. There is a different saying saying some logical bad facts about this club and some thing just for hating and being a glory hunter. Most of Arsenal fans are coming from the glory days. Its no surprise we need a title.

My biggest issue with this club is how they handle the market. I am not saying spend just for the sake of it but we kept playing really average players and still do for a long time just to develop them to a big player. But all those shit performances from many average players are adding up bad team performance and end up no title every year. The only year we truly was amazing and great and never won something was 07/08 we had great squad depth and players who could have won us titles. They are gone now most of them.

Keep support bad decisions no matter what. I wont.

  10. It’s good to see so many of our young players training with the first team.
There is, in my view, absolutely no point whatsoever, in having Bendtner and Park involved. They have nothing to offer the club/team, therefore I’d rather see one or more, of our talented kids on the bench, than either of them..,
The inclusion of Bensebaini is interesting, Wenger obviously sees something in him and hopefully for all of us, he is proved correct.
Jeorge, what is the status of Bensebaini concerning a work permit? A French passport perhaps?

    1. ramy bensbaini have a algerian passport its algerian
and its really good player believe me arsen wenger know that

  11. I have big hopes for Jon Toral, the best youngster we have… does anyone know when his contract with the club expires?
