Ansah helps under-18s beat Leeds as under-16s lose

After last week’s disappointing season opener against Barnsley, Steve Bould’s under-18 side picked up their first three points of the new campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Leeds United.

Zak Ansah scored the only goal of the game, taking his tally at this level to 13 goals in 24 games. The 17 year old, who signed his first professional contract earlier this year, was lively throughout and has featured as a substitute in both Reserve fixtures so far this season.

Steve Gatting’s under-16s, meanwhile, lost 3-1 to the same opponents, Jordan Brown scoring Arsenal’s goal.

Arsenal: McDermott; Glasgow, Hayden, Monteiro, Bihmoutine; Wynter; Monakana, Bunjaku, Jeffrey; Ansah; Neita. Subs: Charles-Cook, Fagan, Campbell, Roberts.

Shame he wasn’t playing for the U18 then as he is a first year scholar. This is why you can’t always just look at results to judge teams. I wonder how many other scholars played.

    1. exacly what kind of reply is that??? I dont see any of them commenting here and pisses me off when you don’t know what the reply was for what kind of question or comment. Are those our guys or leeds?? cus I don’t recognise any of them. just one stupid comment from you.

      1. Obviously you’ve never used Twitter then. As the comments says Leeds were using 1’st year scholar(s) against the U16 as backed up by the facts posted. Not too hard to work out.

      2. I don’t have a twitter account but man…. why are you replying to someone here when the question was on twitter……………? You could atleast write so we who didn’t see the question could understand a little more. I don’t even know the arsenal u16 team but heard of some players before.

  2. If djourou plays for arsenal again i will be pissed off, he is terrible.
THe season when eduardo injured his leg and we were challenging for the league for most of it, teams could hardly get a touch on the ball but now we give it away at will.
Un the plus side, coquelin played alright.
Although the team we played should never had lost so badly, we were missing vermaelin, gervinho and wilshere, three of our best players.

    1. Djourou (and Walcott for that matter) constantly had to cover for Jenkinson who had an absolute mare. He has a big frame and is quite quick but he just isn’t ready for the big time. It was a little sad seeing him out there. Coqy did well and we (really) fell apart when he went off.
