Having been thrown into the spotlight with a Premier League debut against Manchester United during the previous campaign, tenacious defensive-midfielder Nico did not feature as regularly as he had expected for the first-team last campaign.
The 2011/12 season was certainly a memorable one for the Hale End product, who also featured in the Carling Cup and FA Cup, but last season he was restricted to a solitary Capital One Cup outing against Coventry City.
He featured prominently for the U21s and in the NextGen Series, however, captaining the side in the latter competition, and scoring a dramatic goal to see off Inter Milan in the Last 16. Also capable of playing at right-back, although used less frequently in that position last term, Nico was also a mainstay for the U21s, making 18 appearances at second-string level.
A good passer of the ball who is adept at breaking up play, Nico was part of the side that won the Premier Academy League in 2010 and experienced a short loan spell at Notts County two years later which was curtailed by injury. He has been capped by England up to U19 level and is entering the final season of his current contract at the club.

Isn’t the lad English born, half-cypriot and half-korean? Also isn’t he a right back?
father is turkish and mother is from malaysia
father is a greek-cypriot and his mother chinese
^ Wrong ‘Nico Yennaris’ His dad is from Greece.
Nico Yennaris is a Greek name, not sure what agenda someone would have saying he is turkish, but then again, there are a lot of turks in north london that might hope he is one of them lol..
wrong again. dad is cypriot, mum is chinese, both london born. Nico is an east london boy
well hes english. He is born in england and regards himself as English so really what anyone els says hes english really
Nico Yennaris , One to watch for the future. Can play anywhere in defence or midfield, left or right side. Kids doing well.
Number of clubs are watching the boy closely, scout reports are very positive at the moment. Would be interesting to see when they will pounce.
[...] 75. Nico Yennaris [...]
He needs to knucke down and work hard in training and sure first team actions come knocking hard….Just look at Craig Eastmond so did we fancy him to play for the first team in Carling Cup? So hard work and dedication to constantly learnt and humble oneself is so important for a professional players
Nicholas Yennaris is half Greek, half Chinese, London born young man. English basically.
As a player has talent, must continue to persevere and have the right humble attitude! Due to many factors in the English game at the moment, one would not expect to see Yennaris as a future first team Gunner. Championship at best would be the future level. Though you never know!
Also, regarding Yennaris’s future career as top flight pro footballer, lack of size, and proneness to injury would be areas of concern, although he may grow a few extra inches. No Jack Wilshere I am afraid, could play for Greece though!
Just for the record he is half Greek-Cypriot, half chinese, though obviously English born! Would you deny a British/Jamaican or British Asian their ethnic origin, or their roots??? Well then obviously not I presume, so don’t assume with other minorities either Mr G!!
Don I was not presuming or denying anyone anything ! I was merely alluding to the fact that he could represent Greece or China for that matter and not England because I do not believe he will be a full England international UNDERSTAND!!!
father is cypriot (greek) my brother …mother is chinese born in UK

I suppose Yennaris could represent England, Cyprus, Greece, or China. In my opinion Cyprus would look most the likely option, if fully eligiible. China would be interesting, again if fully eligible.
