55. Leander Siemann

A German defender signed from Hertha Berlin, Leander struggled to make a significant impression during his first season at the club.

Capable of playing at right-back or centre-back, he started several games for the U18s in the former position during the first half of the campaign, was named on the bench in the FA Youth Cup and also made his debut for the U21s as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers, but failed to instil much confidence with his positional play.

He missed most of the second half of the season owing to injury, but returned to the squad for the U18′s final game of the season away to Newcastle United. With his professional contract already secured, Leander will be seeking to turn in some more impressive performances during the forthcoming campaign, with his first objective being to establish himself as a regular for the U18s.

Saw him play last summer when he came over, yep very accomplished centre back left sided, could also play left back. Very good on the ball and in the air.

This season Leander has made appearances in every pre-seasonal game and tournament of U 18, U 19 and U21. Until today he has made two Premier League games with the U 21 and three with the U 18, because he is just 17 years. He has made the most appearances of all Academy players. He has recovered completely and has played right and left back or central defender because he can use both feet and is extremly fast
