Loan spells: Southampton (2011), Dagenham & Redbridge (2011)
Local-born goalkeeper James experienced another loan spell last season and, unlike his previous stint with Southampton, actually received some game time whilst with Dagenham and Redbridge.
He only made four appearances for his temporary club, however, but the shot-stopper was involved in a marathon penalty shoot-out against Leyton Orient in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. James saved the decisive spot-kick in a shoot-out that finished 14-13 to the Daggers.
He returned to Arsenal, however, to find himself having been overtaken as the Reserves’ first-choice goalkeeper by promising Argentinian Damian Martinez. James, a member of Arsenal’s FA Youth Cup winning squad of 2008/09, still featured for the second-string on three occasions, but will be seeking another loan spell this season.
He has previously trained with the England senior squad at London Colney and has been named on the bench for the Arsenal first-team in the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.

I saw James play in the pre-season match at Lincoln City. Very confident, agile keeper. In my view will definitely make a professional career; hopefully with AFC long term.
