44. Craig Eastmond

First-team apps: 10

Reserves apps: 47 (2 goals)

Under-18 apps: 49 (1 goal)

Loan spells: Millwall (2011), Wycombe (2012), Colchester (2012)

A tough-tackling defensive-minded midfielder also capable of playing at right-back, Craig enjoyed success on loan at Wycombe Wanderers last season after failing to add to his 10 first-team appearances for Arsenal.

After missing the start of the campaign through injury, Craig proceeded to turn in several consistent performances for the Reserves, starting 11 games in succession, and earning a place on the bench in the Carling Cup in the process. He then joined Wycombe and continued his good form, winning several penalties with buccaneering runs forward and impressing with his simple yet efficient passing.

Craig has previously featured in the Premier League and Champions League for Arsenal, and played every minute of the club’s FA Youth Cup success in 2008/09.

In 2010/11 his loan spell with Millwall was curtailed through injury and, having been overtaken by Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin in the pecking order at the club, could be heading out on loan again this season.

i don’t like that coquelin has been switched to right-back to accommodate eastmond becoming a defensive midfielder. coquelin is great and is a natural there, and players should always be deployed where they look the most at ease.
