60. Alex Iwobi

England U17 international Alex continued to develop apace during his first season as a scholar, demonstrating a new-found capability to operate as a playmaker behind the main striker.

Previously mainly deployed as a winger, Alex adapted well to his new role, with his passing improving dramatically as a consequence, although he will be seeking to improve on his tally of four goals in 24 Academy League outings. He also featured in the NextGen Series and the FA Youth Cup, but didn’t receive a call-up to the U21 set-up.

He will be hoping to rectify that this campaign, and it will be especially interesting to see whether he reverts to his usual role as a winger given that there are so many promising central midfielders at the club.

“Electric speed” is misleading. He’s not that quick, actually.
