72. Jamie Edge

Promising schoolboy Jamie Edge joined Arsenal in summer 2009 following a successful trial.

Signed from Cheltenham Town, where he was held in very high esteem, Edge had been monitored by Gunners scouts for some time before being offered a trial for the u-16s game with Portsmouth last season.

Edge, who is equally comfortable at centre-back and central-midfield, impressed and was offered another trial for the Atalanta Cup in Italy, during which he shone in both of his favoured positions before putting pen to paper on a deal which will see him become an official scholar in the summer of 2010.

Already training full time at London Colney, Jamie was called up to the u-18 squad for the opening day trip to Sheffeld United and can expect more involvement with Steve Bould’s side this term.
