I heard that Cedric Evina is a real talent, and that Conor Henderson has chosen to play for Ireland ahead of England. Are they both good players?

  2. jeorge9 January 7, 2008 at 4:41 pm Reply

yeah they’re both good, but i thought conor henderson was going to play for england?

  3. eduardo January 11, 2008 at 10:17 pm Reply

Do you know anything about schoolboy Graeme Hegarthy.

I think Conor Henderson and Oliver Nicholas have chosen to play for England over Ireland

One other question, Warren Barton the ex Newcastle player said on SKY a while back that his nephew is a schoolboy with Arsenal and I was wondering have you any info on the lad

  4. jeorge9 January 11, 2008 at 10:20 pm Reply

i’ve heard of hegarthy but don’t know too much about him to be honest. Yeah i think your right about henderson and nicholas and hopefully they’ll get more chances at arsenal. as for warren barton’s nephew, i’m not too sure, i’ve probably heard of the player but wouldn’t know if he’s related to him or not.

Do you have any idea who these two 14 year old schoolboy players were that Arsena Wenger referred to this week when he said they were complety players and there was no more that they could be taught technically?

  6. Malcolm January 19, 2008 at 10:06 pm Reply

Is a Frimpong a quality player? The only things I’ve heard of him is he has been called up to England U-16 and is a big center midfielder. What are his strengths and weaknesses? Does he have what it takes at Arsenal?
PS This site is great a big help to a Gooner curious about the future.

  7. jeorge9 January 20, 2008 at 11:25 am Reply

Frimpong is a player in the Patrick Vieira mould, he uses his physique to bustle past players and can score the occasional long range strike. He gets tired quite easily though

conor henderson is a year above me at school (Colfe’s School) and he is choosing to play for Ireland over England. Real talent has been playing for our school team with boys 3 years older than him at times and has dealt with the physical aspect of the game really well. Should be one for the future! gotta try and convince him to play for england now!

Is Jack Wilshire a left or right winger? Do u think he could he the future right winger after Hleb leaves/retires? Cuz Wenger has said Walcott will be a striker, and Hleb has said he wants to retire at Arsenal which i imagine would be at around 33/34, which would make Wilshire about 24. If you don’t think this will happen, who will be the next right winger? Barazite? Randall?

  16. jeorge9 February 2, 2008 at 8:00 pm Reply

wilshere generally plays more centrally but can play wide-right as well. I think watt has done well when he has played there and ogogo can push into that position too, having said that, i feel it is very unlikely that a youth player will fill the role because by that time we probably will have bought somebody else. Jonas Rasmussen can play there too, by the way. He did today.

  17. SANDY February 4, 2008 at 10:26 am Reply

Theres speculation that fran merida wont make it at arsenal because his loan move can be made permanent, which if wenger thought highly of him, wouldnt be included.

its a shame because he was touted as the next fabregas

  18. Sean February 7, 2008 at 9:40 pm Reply

Frans loan move can not be made permanant.AW has said that he will be part of the 1st team next season.

  21. johnjo February 10, 2008 at 5:44 pm Reply

why did he sign for tottenham, do we have a good replacement

  22. jeorge9 February 10, 2008 at 5:52 pm Reply

yes, we have luke freeman who came in just after banton left and we got £100,000 for Banton which was a good deal to be honest.

  23. johnjo February 10, 2008 at 8:02 pm Reply

who is better freeman or banton

  24. jeorge9 February 10, 2008 at 9:32 pm Reply

freeman has more potential, but banton is a powerful out and out goalscorer. it’s difficult to say at this early stage, but i definitely think that freeman has the potential to be a top quality player. As for Banton, will he turn into another Rohan Ricketts?

  25. Paul Witham Gooner February 14, 2008 at 1:13 pm Reply

  26. jeorge9 February 14, 2008 at 3:57 pm Reply

benik plays for the u-16s. he was born in 1993, so he will be a scholar not next season, but the season after that.

  27. Malcolm February 18, 2008 at 3:22 am Reply

So what would you say the first team is for the U-18s is with everyone fit? Seems to me that it is this:
    GK:Szczesny
    LB: Evina
    RB: Eastmond
    CB: Hoyte, Rodgers
    LW: Watt
    CM: Thomas, Frimpong
    RW: Wilshire
    ST: Sunu, Murphy
    Am I right about this?

  28. jeorge9 February 18, 2008 at 8:25 am Reply

i think you’re close, but i think the actual team would be:

    ———–Szczesny——————
    –Eastmond—Bartley——-Cruise—-Evina
    –Lansbury—Frimpong——-Wilshere—–Thomas
    —————Sunu———–Murphy

However, sometimes players like ogogo, hoyte, rodgers etc may play to boost their fitness. sanchez watt could be played ahead of sunu perhaps.

  29. Malcolm February 18, 2008 at 3:09 pm Reply

Wenger said that a couple of the U16s had nothing left to learn technically in his opinion, any idea who he mite have been talkin about?

Wilshire is great, he’ll go on to be a premier league player at the very least, but i think he easily has the potential to be a great Arsenal and England player, he just needs to keep progressing like he is. Whats great about him is hes the compleate package, great shot, great passer, can take men on and goes looking for the ball aswell, although his defencive attributes arent quite as impressing and at only 1.70m and quite slight i doubt hes physically ready for a first team start just yet, but hes not far off i dare say.

  46. jeorge9 April 24, 2008 at 10:13 am Reply

young gunz, i was referring to nacer barazite. i did a post a little while ago about who the players wenger was referring to. one of them is zack ansah, whilst the other is unknown but it could be anton morgan

hiya, love the site ! among all the schoolboys, 1st years, 2nd years and young pros, there only seems to be one specialised playmaker – fran merida perez ! surely every team from hale end up should play like the first team – didn’t today we have denilson + nasri in the middle ? that’s what I call positive ! don’t the youngsters have to be naturals in the playmaker role, so crucial to the beautiful game ? you either are or you aint, I reckon. he may not have made the grade, but didn’t paulinho once ( with volz, pennant, sidwell + gooner bentley ) beat the scouse scallys on aggregate in the u19 final ? if u aint got them, surely u need them, so go find ‘em liam ! just don’t ask trapp ?

  63. BooMeR September 2, 2008 at 4:54 pm Reply

Where does Zach Anza play, where is he from, how is he as a player? and he plays for the u14, or 16?

  64. jeorge9 September 2, 2008 at 5:19 pm Reply

he plays either on the left-wing or a striker. he is technically still an u14 but could make a few appearances for the u16s. he was born in 1994, so he is a year younger than the likes of afobe, banton, aneke, yennaris and brisnal.

  65. BooMeR September 2, 2008 at 6:53 pm Reply

what type of player? Fast and technical, creative? freekick and passes?

And who is Brishnal.. and what about Henderson? Heard he was rated highly!

  66. jeorge9 September 2, 2008 at 7:35 pm Reply

he is a highly technical, pacy player. brisnal is a left-back but he’ll have his work cut out getting into the u-18s side at the moment with Evina and Cruise ahead of him. Conor Henderson is not a schoolboy any more, he is a first year. He is a midfielder who plays either wide on the left or centrally and has already represented ireland at u-19 level even though he is just 16.

  67. BooMeR September 3, 2008 at 9:38 am Reply

So who of the current schoolboys do you think can make it at arsenal?

  68. jeorge9 September 3, 2008 at 11:21 am Reply
