It’s still early days at the moment, but the word is that Arsenal are set to offer trials to some of the most promising prospects but it’s not confirmed yet

I know this isn’t that relevant to the above article but, I was wondering if you (Jeorge) had any access to the fitness and speed test results from the Arsenal players, senior and junior, as I saw that you knew Gavin Hoyte to be the fastest of all the players at Arsenal. we play them at under-18 level, but i’m not sure about the lower levels. i heard that we don’t play them on five live and they said it is to stop the youngsters wanting to change clubs, but i don’t know if its true.

are Arsenal likely to send any more youth players on loan to salamanca or buy a player to send out on loan prior to 1 september?. There were rumours of 1 or 2 players earlier in the summer, but those stories have all but disappeared now it would appear.

you don’t need tickets, it is free to watch. The ground is in Shenley, London Colney, St Albans. It is quite difficult to find and is next to watford’s training ground.

he had a loan spell at sociedad in the second half of last season and then spent the summer with spain at the u-19 european championships. he is back at arsenal now and has been one of the best players in the reserves so far and is part of the carling cup team so he is doing quite well.

1)I was asking myself if Landsbury is a great prospect? Can he be valued as much as Jack Wilshere or was he some sort of a flop?
2) Does Rui Fonte have what it takes to solve the potential Portgual’s forward problem in a near future (If we assume that he’s very good)
3)Will Merida become the new Fabregas? He seems like a great prospect…
4)For the players that has no potential in making it at the first team, what happens to them?

Hi, I will try and answer your questions the best I can
1) Henri is a highly-rated player but was struck by illness last season and is slowly returning to his best. He is a decent player but makes the occasional mistake.
2) Fonte recently made his debut for Portugal u-21s and has improved immensely this season. He is only on loan from sporting though so we will have to see what happens in the summer.
3) Fran wants to be his own player but he has the potential to match Cesc when he gets older
4) Players like Rodgers, Steer, Ogogo and Dunne will be released when their contracts expire in the summer. Then it is up to them to find a new club

no, bischoff won’t play. it will be diaby or ramsey who replaces cesc. Not a lot of youngsters have been linked with us anyway and most of the time there’s no truth to the stories but i’ll keep you posted.

i prefer coquelin as a holding midfielder and i think eventually he will play there if he makes the first team. He has played at right-back as well though. As for Pedro, his temperament is a question mark but he’s a very skilful and direct player and I’m looking forward to seeing his return to Arsenal next summer. He could end up as a left-winger or if he is patient at left-back because silvestre will be gone in 2 years and gibbs may go out on loan.

I think we should try and get him back in January if we can as we don’t have any Left-footed wingers and he can solve that problem. And is Barazite returning now that Jewell has resigned? When Pedro Botelho comes back, where do you think he will play?

Traore is most likely staying at Portsmouth until the end of the season. Barazite is 50:50, we’ll have to wait and see. As i said before, pedro is coming back in the summer it remains to be seen where he will play but i like him as a left-winger.

11 damn! we’ll have to wait quite a few more years for him. Who else do you think will go on loan? And do you think Mark Randall and Lansbury will make it because after i watched them i don’t think they can at Arsenal. Wilshere and Gibbs i think will definately make it.

I think Gibbs could go out on loan although Wilshere won’t as he’s too young. I think both Randall and Lansbury could make it, what makes you think they can’t?

Thanks Jeorge. I would agree with you as I think Randall is an all round central midfielder who can attack as well as defend, in the mould of Sidwell and Carrick. Lansbury was unfortunately held back by the illness he had in a crucial period in his development. He is well respected not amongst Arsenal ranks alone but amongst the national team as he is the captain for his age group. What do you think on the development as far as Leeds United’s Delph?

Hi, I was wondering if i could come on trial at arsenal youth team im 16 years of age, Turning 17 in August, Im from scotland but im whilling to travel to achieve my dream of becoming a football player, And i believe i could achieve this at arsenal as there youth teams are the most exciting young stars of the future. Ive played for leith athletic football team, Was top goal scorer for 2 seasons. Won the scottish cup, but scottish football is absolute terrible to become a professional football player. Im traveling to Glasgow for a 5 day training course then we go down london to play infront of scouts, and im training so hard i go jogging everyday at 6am, then go to the gym, FIT IS A FIDDLE haha. it will be a couple of years before Ozyakup plays in the first team.
The u-18s play their home games at London Colney and the reserves play their homes games at Underhill, Barnet.

I have a couple of players who, it seems, passed through your club at very early stages of their careers. The first is George Saunders. He is currently 19/20 and playing for Villarreal ‘C’ in Spain. From what I can ascertain, he was with you for a couple of years when he was 12 (circa 2002), before moving with his family out to Spain, where he has subsequently played for the likes of Espanyol – and now Villarreal.
The second is a lad called Lloyd Butler, who is banging the goals in for Geylang United in Singapore. He is 19 and moved recently to Singapore with his family. I am not too sure when he was on your books.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Jeorge, very interesting site. I am a Gooner exiled in Cardiff and when I go to play 5-a-side at my local 5-a-side centre there are lots of kids training with coaches in Arsenal gear apparently under the auspices of the Arsenal Soccer school. Is the purpose of these things to try and pick out talented kids at a young age (they look about 8 or 9) and then to keep them within the Arsenal fold? I guess this is a way of getting round the Premier league rules on taking young players from miles away from the club’s location, which will normally prevent Arsenal from actually putting them in the local Acedemy team?

With so many players in the 17-21 years very talented and not getting first team opportunities, do you think that the bubble will burst on Arsenal? Many players will decline to sign professional contracts and seek first team opportunities elsewhere.
