85. Gedion Zelalem

A Germany U16 international who was spotted by Arsenal playing in America with Olney Rovers, much is expected from this technically-gifted central-midfielder.

A superb passer of the ball, Gedion began life at Arsenal operating for the U16s and initially impressed at that level before soon finding some of the physical aspects of the English game difficult to contend with. He faced an anxious wait for international clearance enabling him to play in England, but, in the interim, trained with the first-team squad on several occasions, demonstrating how highly the youngster is rated by Arsene Wenger and his coaching staff.

Gedion, after much hype, finally made his debut for the U21s away to Liverpool in April, completely bypassing U18s football, and impressed with some typically diligent passes before making further appearances against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham and Liverpool again in the reverse fixture.

For all his commendable technical qualities, however, Gedion has yet to demonstrate an ability to run games at U21 level, something which he will surely develop during what is expected to be a highly eventful campaign for the youngster, and one that could yield a first-team debut in the Capital One Cup at the age of 16.

Actually he born in Germany he better to play for Germany national team”I’m so happy to see him playing for gunners

  18. Asnake Ashebir April 26, 2013 at 12:36 pm Reply

He was born in Germany and has a team mates in Sergy Gnabry and Thomas Eisfild who are Germans beside Per Mertesacker and Podolski from Main team.

This new breed of German generation in Arsenal team could put him in a felow country men circle of influence. As a result his chance for playing either to USA or Ethiopia becomes minimal.

I personally hope that he would choose Ethiopia where he can easily make to the national team as compared to his chance to make to the German side.

there is also a good chance of becoming a USA national team player.

The bottom line is we all love him and wish him all a success in his career.
