54. Sanchez Watt

Versatile and technically-gifted attacker Sanchez Watt recovered from a broken leg to become a key component in Arsenal u-18s double-winning side.

Highly rated whilst a schoolboy, Sanchez made his Reserves debut against Charlton before signing scholarship terms in summer 2007.

He impressed with his happy knack in front of goal, including a strike on his home debut for the Reserves against Portsmouth and scored for the first-team in pre-season against Huddersfield in summer 2008.

Watt began last season in good form, striking against Wolves and Bristol City in consecutive games but things took a turn for the worse when he suffered a broken leg in the u-18s game with West Ham at Little Heath following a collision with the Hammers goalkeeper.

He returned in early December and immediately looked sharp, before going on to reach new heights in the new year.

His goals in the Premier Academy League proved vital, as did his strikes in the FA Youth Cup campaign, during which he notched against Manchester City in the semi-final second leg at Emirates Stadium as well as in both legs of the Final.

Sanchez also ended the Reserves barren run by scoring Neil Banfield’s side’s first goal of 2009 in the away clash with Tottenham at Leyton Orient.

An impressive pre-season followed, which included a run-out at the Emirates Cup, during which he impressed against SPL Champions Rangers.

This season Sanchez will be pushing for the Carling Cup squad.
