Rwandan international Alfred put his versatility to good use during his first season as a scholar as he was a consistent presence for the U18s in a variety of positions, whilst also featuring heavily for the U21s and in the NextGen Series. He capped off an impressive season by making his full international debut for Rwanda, in a World Cup Qualifier, aged just 17.
Predominantly a central-midfielder, the technically-talented youngster is also capable of operating at right-back, centre-back or on the right wing, and impressed with his committed and skilful performances at all levels during 2012/13, scoring his first goal for the U18s in the 5-2 victory over Aston Villa.
Also very quick across the ground, Alfred featured for his country in the U17 World Cup in 2011 and put that valuable experience to good use as he made three starts for Arsenal U21s in his preferred position before Christmas, whilst also filling in at right-back in the NextGen Series when Hector Bellerin was suspended.
This season he will hope to become a regular for the U21s as he seeks to earn his first professional contract at the club.
