Fleet-footed winger Ainsley built on his superb final season as a schoolboy to establish himself as a regular for the U21s during an eventful 2013/14 campaign.
The youngster, who possesses excellent technique and crossing ability, started the season in the U18s, but his impressive performances at that level soon saw him propelled into the second-string set-up.
He made 14 appearances in total for Steve Gatting’s side, finding the net away to Everton and Newcastle United. He was also one of Arsenal’s key performers in their run to the Semi-Finals of the FA Youth Cup, scoring in the first three matches of the competition.
Having already featured in the NextGen Series as a schoolboy, Ainsley, who has been capped by England at U17 level, went on to feature in the UEFA Youth League last season, starting every single game that Arsenal played in the competition.
This season he is likely to be a mainstay for the U21s and will be hopeful of training with the first-team on more occasions, having done so for the first time towards the end of the last campaign. Despite nominally being a winger, Ainsley is also capable of operating as a central-midfielder when required.
