Miquel trains with first-team ahead of Bayern Munich tie

Spanish centre-back Ignasi Miquel was the only player from outside the first-team squad to train with Arsene Wenger’s side at London Colney this morning as the Gunners fine-tuned their preparations ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League Last 16 1st leg tie with Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium.

The majority of the squad was in attendance for the session, with only Kieran Gibbs missing out altogether. The left-back could return in time for the 2nd leg at the Allianz Arena, whilst Laurent Koscielny trained on his own in the gym as a precaution after picking up a knock. It is not currently clear whether the French defender will be available for tomorrow’s game, with Bacary Sagna a possible option to fill in at centre-back should Koscielny not make the cut. Thomas Vermaelen, meanwhile, is set to start at left-back with January signing Nacho Monreal cup-tied.

Possible team:

Szczesny

Jenkinson-Sagna-Mertesacker-Vermaelen

Arteta-Wilshere

Walcott-Cazorla-Podolski

Giroud

subs: Mannone, Coquelin, Ramsey, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Diaby.

I believe, we cannot risk playing Jenkinson, at least not now, but it’s a positive news that Koscielny should be fine for tomorrow. Another option would be if Vermaelen started alongside Mertesacker and Coquelin as a LB, it would be far the best option than playing Jenkinson, or Miquel or Squillaci.
Actually, it would be the best time to choose Podolski (or even Theo) as a centre forward with Santi on one of the flanks, with Jack as the advanced midfielder and with Ramsey alongside Arteta. That would be a nice midfield-battle!

Given the choices at least he will put the effort in unlike some of the other prima donnas we have in the team. Should we be surprised at how mediocre we have become.
Congratulation Stan Kronke, You have taken over Arsenal and we have become just another also ran team like the other sports teams you owe. As long as you draw your dividend payments circa £20M per year why should you care.
In Arsene we trust ……. Once upon a time, Now he has become another one milking the club for all he can get just like the rest of his super star signings and their below par performances.
£7M per year and does not have the ability to beat Bradford and Blackburn, Then sits in front of the camera to spout off “we try to win every competition we are in”.
Arsene just go and take your gravy train robbers with you –
Gervinho, Manone, Fabianski, Squillaci, Arshavin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Chamakh, Santos, Ju-Young Park, Denison

I’m glad you guys can be so positive going into this match I am a nervous reck. If the squad had shown me through out the season that they could beat teams above them like ManU ,Chelsea, ManCity 3 teams that would would also have a tough match vs Bayern Or even made easy work of Everton or Sunderland. or if we had beaten Schalke 04 who are in 9th. in the BUNDESLIGA then maybe I might have a stronger belief going in but the best I can do is a very nervous hope for all of or players to have the best game they have played so far this season because that is what it will take and maybe that along with a few of Bayern’s players getting a training ground injury or come down with the flu over night.
