Loan report- Frimpong and Afobe make debuts, Santos set to join ranks of loanees

Posted on Updated on

Emmanuel Frimpong made his Fulham debut at the third attempt, starting in their goalless draw with Norwich in the Premier League. The powerful midfielder, somewhat unsurprisingly, marked his first appearance for Martin Jol’s side by picking up a yellow card for a late challenge on Robert Snodgrass. The 21 year old formed a solid midfield axis with fellow Academy product Steve Sidwell before being replaced by Urby Emanuelson after 66 minutes.

Ryo wasn’t involved in Wigan’s heavy defeat at Chelsea due to injury. Marouane Chamakh‘s West Ham take on Aston Villa tomorrow.

In the Championship, Benik Afobe was handed his Millwall debut, with the striker starting and playing 82 minutes of their 2-1 defeat to Blackpool. The England U21 international struck up a good partnership with Rob Hulse before he was replaced by Andy Keogh late on.

Chuks Aneke was restored to the Crewe starting line-up and played 78 minutes as they drew 1-1 with Notts County. The midfielder was heavily involved throughout, attempting several shots on goal and making a couple of important clearances.

In the SPL, Philip Roberts came off the bench to play the last 14 minutes as Inverness were beaten 3-1 by runaway leaders Celtic. The Irish youngster had a shot saved by Fraser Forster.

Johan Djourou played the whole game in Germany as Hannover won 1-0 against Hoffenheim, whilst Andre Santos is poised to join the growing number of first-team players out on loan by finalising a move to Brazilian side Gremio over the next few days.

Ju-Young Park came on for the last five minutes as Celta Vigo lost 1-0 to Valencia in La Liga. Denilson wasn’t involved as Sao Paulo took on Guarani, but did play the entirety of Thursday’s draw with Ponte Preta.

Wellington was an un-used substitute as Ponferradina lost to Villarreal. Reice Charles-Cook started his second game for Chelmsford City, keeping a clean sheet and making several impressive saves as they beat Tonbridge Angels 4-0 in the Blue Square Bet South.

Joel Campbell‘s Real Betis face Valladolid on Monday evening, whilst Samuel Galindo is likely to make his debut for his new loan side Jorge Wilstermann next week. Nicklas Bendtner is out for the rest of the season through injury.

Good start for Cookie-Cook, the Chelmsford City site have him as their man of the match in his debut game and it seems like he impressed again in his second.

It seems this loan spell for Myiachi has been disastourous. Can someone say exactly what his injury is?

Bit confused about wellington, when he plays he does well but never starts. Shame he doesn’t, he really needs to be playing more.
