Due to the international break there were no fixtures in England’s top two tiers this weekend, whilst several of Arsenal’s foreign-based loanees were also without domestic commitments. However, several youngsters were still involved in the lower divisions both in England and abroad.
Sanchez Watt struck the winner for Colchester in their 1-0 victory over Stevenage in League One yesterday, with his first goal for his latest loan club coming with 55 minutes on the clock. Watt found the net with a powerful effort, before being replaced by Freddie Sears before full-time, whilst Craig Eastmond completed 90 minutes in central midfield.
Chuks Aneke played the full game for Crewe and was heavily involved throughout but couldn’t prevent his temporary side from slipping to a 2-0 defeat to Portsmouth. Aneke had several shots on goal and also made a couple of defensive clearances, but still ended up on the losing side.
Conor Henderson, meanwhile, was an un-used substitute for Coventry. In League Two, Daniel Boateng‘s Oxford take on Port Vale tomorrow night.
In the Spanish second division, Wellington turned in a lively performance after emerging off the bench as a 57th minute substitute for Ponferradina against Guadalajara, but his side still lost out, whilst Samuel Galindo wasn’t part of the Lugo side which dispatched of Murcia.

none of them are destined for the first team
Hi Jeorge, I take it you get your info about the loanees’ performances online, from local papers’ match reports. If that’s the case I have a suggestion, do you think it would be possible to include the link to the page from where you created your summary? I would be interested in reading about some of the loan players’ games in a bit more detail, and I think some others would too.
That’s a good suggestion. I get most of the information from the BBC site, which provides a record of most things that happened during a game, and I also watch the Football League show sometimes.
I’ll consider including some links in the future.
According to a Ponferradina fan on twitter, Wellington Silva was the best player on the pitch. He was beating 3-4 players at the time, very good shooting and if it wasn’t for his teamates lack of finishing Silva would have tonnes of assist.
He tells me that Wellington has suffered from fitness problems before so could not last the full 90 minute but Wellington Silva has been training very hard and has improved his fitness and stamina.
He also says that Wellington isthe best Ponferradina player in their history.
ps. jeorge is it true that Wellington has extended his contract with Arsenal
I think he has a deal until 2016.
I don’t care whether watt makes it here or not but you’ve got to admire his tenacity and application. As for Wellington i still think he has a chance but he has got to start taking his career seriously. Seems like a down to earth guy on twitter and IMO was severely mistreated at levante.
Aneke I guess is finally starting to show his talent
Heard that Craig Eastmond was man of the match in his game for Colchester. Apparently put in a lot of challenges and rarely lost the ball.
Yep league 1 is a good fit for many of our youngsters. it seems that when they go to a prem club or even a championship side they end up on the bench all the time. i thought jeffrey monakana looked impressive today for pne strange one letting him go. i guess it was the emergence of chamberlain and gnabry that put paid to his chances unless he also had an attitude?
Monokana is behind chamberlain and Gnabry but I feel he wasn’t good enough for us anyway. He might doing good for a league 1 side but that is still far from our first team and maybe Championship level. I think its too early to say if we did a mistakes. I even think Lipman, Akpom, Eaisfield and Afobe would do better. Afobe was a regular at league 1 level. He is on the bench a lot for Bolton this season.
I don’t think we need to worry too much because we got promising youngsters coming up that is looking better in their first year.
