Phillip Roberts signs scholarship terms with Arsenal

Arsenal held their traditional photoshoot for the new intake of scholars at Emirates Stadium last Wednesday, with 13 players in attendance.

Amongst them was highly-rated striker Phillip Roberts, an Irish youth international signed from Norwich City who impressed on trial recently. Joining Phillip at the photocall were fellow strikers Zak Ansah and Nigel Neita, midfielders Josh Rees, Callum Webb, Jeffrey Monakana and Alban Bunjaku, defenders Jordan Wynter, Steven Smith, James Campbell, Samir Bihmoutine and Ben Glasgow and goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook.

he is currently training with leicester and hasn’t fully decided about his future. Martin Angha, Jamie Edge and Elton Monteiro will also be part of this group of scholars, which takes the total to a rather large 16.

16 new U18 players. Added to the already 10 we have, that will surely be some competition in the U18 team next year. And a lot of players won’t play many games next year. Wonder how Bould is going to deal with this. Surely a few will be promoted to the reserve team, but still we will have too many players in the U18′s. Maybe we will be playing a lot of U18 cups and friendlies in the middle of the season, maybe?
Also, this will make it harder for the next year U16′s to get games in the U18′s like Rees, Ansah, Webb, Angha and others have got this season.

Think it’s strange that Bould, Brady & co are giinge scholarships to that many players really.

Is Alban Bunjaku that one that everyone raves about?

Think he would got more opportunities in the U18 team this season if he was that good. But believe he only got one sub appearance.

I heard centre back joe jones has signed pro at leicester instead of take his scholarship at arsenal, it seems like a wise decision considering the number of scholars they have got next year, what do you think jeorge?
