Ansah goal and assist as under-16s edge past Charlton

Posted by Jeorge Bird on November 9, 2009

Arsenal forward Zak Ansah continued his superb form at under-16 level with a brace and an assist in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Charlton.

The tall frontman, who played for England U16s against Northern Ireland in the Victory Shield on Thursday, opened the scoring with a cool finish for his seventeenth goal of the season. He then set up Samir Bihmoutine for what proved to be the winner in an entertaining contest.

The victory saw Arsenal bounce back from last week’s 7-3 reverse at the hands of West Ham, during which Callum Webb shone in adversity. The midfielder impressed again yesterday with his combative approach, whilst Bihmoutine provided a useful outlet on the left-flank. Up front, Nigel Neita is struggling to match Ansah’s rich vein of form but has already scored for the under-18s this season and will surely get more appearances for Steve Bould’s side this term.

  1. @ Jeorge Bird, did they let thru @ the training ground? plus did they allow you to watch the U16s? what type of physical presence did West Ham have last week? bcuz i noticed Turgott is quite tall what about others

Also Man Citeh’s Veseli was sent off for the Swiss U17 in the quarter finals so Sead Hajrovic might start the semifinal match.

jeorge what reason are they giving you for not allowing you to watch the game, and is there any way you can offically get permission to go in.

  7. Ha ha, I might try that ! it wasn’t just physical presence that they used to dominate the game. Fanimo’s energy and desire was also important and their overall link-up play was very good. they are probably the best u16 team out of all the premier league sides.
