Posted by Jeorge Bird on July 20, 2009

Arsenal Reserves play the first of three friendlies tonight when they take on Lincoln City at Sincil Bank.

The Gunners have named a 16-man squad for the fixture, which includes goalkeeper Sean McDermott and fellow new scholars Oguzhan Ozyakup and Ignasi Miquel. Daniel Boateng will start at right-back.

Rhys Murphy, Henri Lansbury, Gavin Hoyte and Fran Mérida all miss out because of international duty, whilst Emmanuel Frimpong has travelled to Austria with the first-team squad.

Craig Eastmond is also absent tonight, sparking rumours that he is also on the plane, whilst Kyle Bartley is on standby for the UEFA u-19 European Championships in Ukraine.

Confirmed team:

Shea

Boateng-Miquel-Ayling-Cruise

Watt-Coquelin-Thomas-Sunu

Simpson-Barazite

subs: McDermott, Obed, Henderson, Ozyakup, Freeman.

Craig Eastmond on the plane? That kid has got to be the worst right back to ever come out behind all those other rubbish ones like Rodgers, J Hoyte etc.

dont know what games some of you are watching as eastmond does alot of covering on the right side. gets forward well and also a good one 2 one defender.

  6. I didn’t say he is on the plane, it is just a rumour. He is good going forward but often gets exposed defensively, much like Gibbs when he first played at left-back

Unfortunately we just don’t make right backs like we make our left backs! :)

Jeorge, have you heard anything about Kerrea Gilbert? Also, I notice your lineup includes both Barazite and Simpson. I’m sure they’re devastated not to go to Austria.
