Arsenal complete Hajrovic signing + Botelho linked with Celta
Posted by Jeorge Bird on July 18, 2009

Arsenal have completed the signing of centre-back Sead Hajrovic from Grasshoppers for 540,000 Swiss francs, with under-18s coach Steve Bould particularly impressed with his aerial ability.
Hajrovic, who has been capped by Switzerland at under-15, under-16 and under-17 level, has signed scholarship terms which will see him become professional on his 17th birthday. It is the second time this summer that the Gunners have raided the Swiss market for talent, following the capture of fellow defender Martin Angha from FC Zurich.
Hajrovic is expected to compete with Ignasi Miquel and Daniel Boateng for a place in the under-18s this season, and could make his debut in the Toomey Trophy next weekend. Sead’s arrival takes the number of first-year scholars to 10.

As one player comes in, another may be about to depart. Pedro Botelho, who endured a difficult loan spell at Salamanca last season, has been linked with a permanent move to Celta Vigo.
Celta are thought to have enquired about the wing-back, although a concrete offer is yet to be made.

That’s loads of centre backs we’ve got now especially as Jamie Edge can play there too! Any news on the striker situation? Is Wellington still being chased? Is the Dutch kid still being linked?!

I was hoping to see Botelho come back this season and add competition to the squad. I’ve never seen this guy play, but have heard promising things about him

This story is old news though as Hajrovic signed for us a while ago which is why he was one of the players who appeared in the usual academy photoshoot that took place at Shenley over a week ago.

that link doesn’t say Botelho is moving permanently to Celta. It’s about a loan move and it talks about him spending another year in Spain so that he can qualify for dual citizenship, thus getting an EU passport.
