Arsenal forward Robin van Persie has admitted that Jack Wilshere’s ability makes him ‘almost scared’.
Wilshere’s rapid rise to first-team status has drew the attention of many, and van Persie is no exception, telling Arsenal TV Online:
It almost makes me scared when I see him play, so he has massive potential.
Much was made of Wilshere’s drop in form at the start of the calender year, and it’s true that he didn’t have his best season as an Arsenal player, but hopefully pre-season can see him push to get back into the first-team picture.
Arsenal Reserves’ fixtures for the new season have been announced today. The Gunners begin at home to Fulham, followed by a trip to Birmingham.
The games against Chelsea are on October 5th (home) and February 15th (away). From last season; West Brom have been replaced by Wolves and, as previously mentioned, there will be no North London derbies this campaign following Tottenham’s decision to withdraw from the league.
Finally, striker Rhys Murphy has been called up to the England U19 squad to replace Victor Moses for this month’s UEFA European Under-19 Championships in Ukraine. Murphy joins his Arsenal colleagues Gavin Hoyte and Henri Lansbury in the squad, whilst Fran Mérida will represent Spain.
