Training begins as Arsenal youngsters look to push on

Pre-season training for the majority of the Arsenal squad- including the newly-signed professionals, started yesterday as Arsene Wenger prepared his squad for the new campaign.

There were several notable faces at London Colney; including new signing Thomas Vermaelen as well as Philippe Senderos, who has returned from a season-long loan at Milan.

The bulk of the reserve squad were also present, including Nacer Barazite who is back from Derby, as well as the likes of Jay Simpson, Kyle Bartley, Henri Lansbury, Thomas Cruise, Mark Randall and Conor Henderson.

Craig Eastmond, Luke Ayling and James Shea, who all turned professional seven days ago, also took part in the session led by Wenger, fitness coach Tony Colbert and Reserve coach Neil Banfield, as well as goalkeeping coach Mart Poom.

The under-16s and the majority of the u-18s do not return until July 19th.

This looks set to be a massive season for several of the youngsters at the club, as they look to transform themselves from youth double winners to first-team squad candidates.
