Arsenal pair Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs both successfully converted penalties as England U21s edged past hosts Sweden to reach the Final of the UEFA u-21 European Championships.

With the scores tied at 3-3 after extra-time, penalties ensued with England down to ten men following the dismissal of Manchester United forward Frazier Campbell.

Walcott scored his penalty to the bottom right hand corner of the goal, with Gibbs converting in the bottom left with what proved to be the Three Lions final penalty, with Guillermo Mollins striking the post for Sweden and subsequently sending Stuart Pearce’s side through to Monday’s Final.

Loanees- Nordtveit can’t prevent defeat + Arsenal drop Bischoff hint

Arsenal loanee Håvard Nordtveit played 90 minutes for Lillestrøm last night, but couldn’t prevent his adopted side from suffering a last-gasp heartbreaking 1-0 defeat at the hands of Molde FK.

Nordtveit, who again started at centre-back, was called into action early on to block a dangerous-looking attempt, but took the opportunity to drive forward whenever possible, blazing one shot over the bar from distance.

Soon after, he lashed a shot narrowly wide of the far post and it seemed only a matter of time before LSK would take the lead.

But, they struggled to make the breakthrough and, in stoppage time at the end of the second-half, disaster struck. Rune Erstås, a Norway U21 international, struck to ensure that Lillestrøm’s disastrous start to the Tippeligaen season continued.

In other news, Arsenal have seemingly confirmed that Amaury Bischoff will leave the club when his contract expires on Tuesday.

The new Arsenal away shirt went on sale yesterday at the club’s flagship store The Armoury, with fans taking the opportunity to select which player’s name they would like on the back of their replica shirt.

Andrey Arshavin proved far and away the most popular, but, on the board behind the printing station which displays each player’s name and squad number in chronological order, no.28 had no name on it, meaning Bischoff’s departure is all but confirmed.
