Arsenal u-18s will begin their pre-season preparations by participating in the Toomey Trophy which will be hosted by Southend United on the weekend of July 25th and 26th.

The Gunners drew acclaim from all quarters following their double winning exploits last season and Steve Bould will be keen to blood his new scholars in what is sure to be a competitive environment.

Also participating in the tournament will be the hosts as well as Fulham and Everton.

Southend boast a strong academy themselves having won the Puma Youth Alliance last campaign, whilst Arsenal needed a header from substitute Benik Afobe to earn a point at Motspur Park in October. However, the Gunners thrashed the Cottagers 5-1 at London Colney in March.

The first day of fixtures sees Fulham face Everton, whilst Arsenal take on Southend. The Gunners also have a pre-season friendly lined up with Lincoln on July 20th, although a side consisting of Reserve players is likely to participate in that particular fixture.
