Loanees- Rodgers sent off as Ogogo makes comeback

Several Arsenal loanees were in action last night in various tiers of the English League Pyramid. Read on to find out how they fared…
Paul Rodgers endured a frustrating evening on only his second start for League One side Northampton after he was sent off for two bookable offences in the 2-1 defeat to Colchester. The first booking came on 39 minutes for a foul on Mark Yeates, but it appeared that Rodgers got the ball. His second yellow was far more clear-cut, coming on the stroke of half-time for a crunching challenge on Marc Tierney. The Cobblers had taken the lead through Akinfenwa on 18 minutes, but the ten men couldn’t hold on and eventually succumbed to Yeates and Vernon strikes.
In the Premier League, Jay Simpson completed 64 minutes before being replaced by Roman Bednar as West Brom were thrashed 5-0 by Man.United at the Hawthorns. Armand Traore was an un-used substitute as Portsmouth suffered a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Aston Villa.
In the Championship, Nacer Barazite started for Derby against promotion-chasing Birmingham but, other than a couple of tame shots, failed to influence proceedings before being replaced by Mile Sterjovski in the 73rd minute. In the same division, Gavin Hoyte played 76 minutes of Watford’s 3-0 victory over Burnley. The right-back was replaced by Liam Williamson 19 minutes from time after being booked for a challenge on Joey Gudjonsson in the first-half. Jobi Mc Anuff opened the scoring for the Hornets just two minutes in and super-sub Tamas Priskin completed the rout with two late goals.
Down in League One, Kerrea Gilbert returned from illness to play the whole 90 minutes as leaders Leicester were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Brighton.
In League Two, Abu Ogogo made his comeback from a stomach muscle problem, playing the final 23 minutes as Barnet drew 0-0 with Shrewsbury at Underhill. Left-back Rene Steer was an un-used sub as Gillingham suffered a 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City. A Simeon Jackson penalty put the hosts in front on 27 minutes, but Lincoln bounced back in the second half through Geoff Horsfield, with his first goal since February 2007 and won in stoppage time with a Dany N’Guessan strike.
