Barnet manager Paul Fairclough ripped into on-loan Arsenal full-back Abu Ogogo last night after the Epsom-born defender was sent off just five minutes after scoring his first professional goal. Ogogo kept his place in the side for the trip to Luton, but the Bees went two goals down before Ogogo pulled one back. He then spoiled it by getting sent off for a second bookable offence and manager Fairclough said

“I believe in the Respect campaign and the boy has let himself and the team down.

“There was provocation but I can’t condone getting sent off for a lack of discipline.”

His month-long loan spell at Underhill ends on Thursday and, on this evidence, I can’t see it being extended. Elsewhere, Nacer Barazite got 64 minutes as Derby lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace, whilst Kerrea Gilbert made his comeback for Leicester as the Foxes beat his former side Southend 3-0. In Spain, Pedro Botelho played the whole game as Salamanca squandered a one-goal lead to draw 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano. Armand Traore’s Portsmouth take on West Brom in the Premier League today, but the Frenchman is doubtful after picking up a hamstring problem in the UEFA Cup defeat to Wolfsburg on Thursday.

Arsene Wenger has said that he will let ‘two or three’ of his youngsters go out on loan now that the club’s participation in this season’s Carling Cup is over. Jay Simpson has already been linked with five clubs, including Norwich and West Brom and now it appears that the Baggies are on the trail of fellow striker Carlos Vela as well, although I find it difficult to see that one happening.

More tomorrow including a look ahead to the FA Youth Cup clash with Villa.
