Arsenal to face Aston Villa in FA Youth Cup third round
Arsenal have been drawn away to Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup third round and, although the date for the fixture is yet to be confirmed, the match must be played before Saturday December 13th and will take place at Villa Park.
Steve Bould’s side lost to Villa at the same venue in the FA Premier Academy League play-off semi-final last season and will be looking to gain revenge this time around.
The Gunners exited the competition at the fourth round stage last season, going down to Liverpool at Anfield after thrashing Burnley 5-1 in the previous round. In the 2006/2007 season Arsenal reached the semi-finals of the competition where they eventually lost to Manchester United in a two-legged affair.
Last season’s winners Manchester City are away to Swansea whilst Manchester United will take on Chelsea. Arsenal have won the FA Youth Cup six times in their history, most recently the back-to-back successes in 2000 and 2001.
