Fonte and Szczęsny geared for European task

Arsenal pair Rui Fonte and Wojciech Szczęsny will be hoping to guide their respective countries into the next phase of UEFA u-19 Championships qualification over the next couple of weeks.

Striker Fonte has already joined up with his Portugal team-mates ahead of their opening game against Bulgaria, which takes place next Tuesday. They then take on Finland two days later before rounding off with a game against Israel.

Szczęsny, meanwhile, will be hoping to keep goal for Poland as they attempt to qualify from Group 12. He will attend training on Sunday ahead of the games against Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Greece.

Fran Mérida has already helped to guide Spain through to the Elite Round, whilst Henri Lansbury was on target for England yesterday in their 3-0 win over Albania. The Three Lions are back in action tomorrow against Northern Ireland and then face Serbia on Monday.
