Jay Emmanuel-Thomas added to England u-19 squad for Holland clash
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been drafted into the England u-19 squad for tomorrow’s friendly with Holland following the withdrawal of Manchester United’s Danny Drinkwater. It is his first call-up at under-19 level, although he did represent England u-18s against Ghana last season. Jay joins fellow Arsenal team-mates Rhys Murphy, Henri Lansbury and Gavin Hoyte in the squad for the game, which is the Three Lions’ final warm-up game before qualification for the 2009 UEFA under-19 Championships commences next month. During that qualification campaign, England will take on Albania, Northern Ireland and Serbia and the Holland game will give coach Brian Eastick a final chance to have a look at his players before the competitive action begins.
The Arsenal quartet will be up against a familiar face tomorrow in Nacer Barazite, who is currently on loan at Derby County in the Championship. Nacer grabbed a brace against Scotland at the weekend and will be looking to continue his goalscoring streak tomorrow at Shrewsbury’s Prostar stadium.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 7.45PM.
