Kerrea Gilbert- Fulham 3 Leicester 2

Arsenal loanee Kerrea completed 90 minutes as Leicester were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Fulham in tonight’s Carling Cup Second round encounter at Craven Cottage.

The home side made just one change from the team that saw off Arsenal at the weekend, with summer acquisition Fredrik Stoor replacing John Pantsil at right-back.

Fulham:
——————Schwarzer————-

—Stoor—Hangeland———–Hughes—Kallio

—Davies–Bullard————-Murphy—-Gera

———-Zamora————-Ki-Hyeon——

The Foxes included a new signing of their own in former England international left-back Chris Powell.

Leicester:

—————-Martin——————-

-Gilbert—-Morrison————Tunchev—Powell

-Dickov—-Wesolowski———-King——Dyer-

———-Fryatt—————Howard———-

The opening stages were feisty and Kerrea commited a foul on Bobby Zamora on 27 minutes.

Just four minutes later Zoltan Gera broke the deadlock to give Fulham the lead on 31 minutes after being played through by Zamora.

It stayed that way until the break, but Leicester were quickest out of the traps after the interval.

Paul Dickov latched on to substitute Max Alain-Gradel’s cross to equalise just one minute into the second half. The veteran former Arsenal man then turned provider for Andy King to slot home to give Leicester the lead.

The Foxes looked like they were going to hold on for a remarkable victory, but a stunning Jimmy Bullard strike from 25 yards out just seven minutes from time put Fulham level, then Danny Murphy broke Fulham hearts with a last minute winner from a similar distance in the dying moments. In the middle of all that Kerrea had tried to score with an ambitious effort to restore the lead but in the end the tie went Fulham’s way. Nonetheless, Nigel Pearson’s side will look for a good run in the FA Cup now.

Nacer Barazite was left out of the Derby side which saw off Preston 1-0 last night after Arsenal instructed the Dutchman not to feature in cup competitions for the Rams.

Liam Brady back to work after hospital scare

Posted by Jeorge Bird on August 27, 2008

It was worrying news when Arsenal Academy chief Liam Brady was admitted to hospital last week, but speaking to arsenal.com he has revealed that he is back to full health

I had a few back and chest pains so I was admitted to hospital to have it all checked and I was given the all clear. Everything is fine and I am back at work as normal.

I’d like to thanks everybody who got in touch to ask how I was, and I can tell you that I am absolutely fine.

There were reports in the Irish media that he would watch the Tottenham-Sunderland game last Saturday, but instead he turned up at London Colney to watch Arsenal u-18s overcome Everton with a 3-1 win, proving where his loyalties lie.
