Armand Traore made his debut for Portsmouth against Manchester United last night and whilst the result didn’t go his way, there were still plenty of positives to draw from the experience. Speaking to the Official Portsmouth website, the former Monaco man said
I think we played very well in the first-half and were really unlucky. We could have easily got something out of the game…
Portsmouth started the better of the two sides but United gained control as the game went on and Traore believes fatigue played a part.
We passed the ball well and put pressure on them when they had the ball. But in the second half we were tired. They showed their strength by making us run.
As for the season as a whole, Traore is aiming high
I believe we can finish in the top six. I think we are going to have a big, big season. In almost every position there is an International player. I think we can do something in the league and the UEFA Cup.
However, the Frenchman appears to have no preference concerning his playing position, just as long as he’s in the side.
I like playing both left-back and left-midfield. I like left-midfield because I enjoy attacking defenders, and it’s good to play at left-back because that’s where i’ve been playing at Arsenal and I need to improve.
Traore will spend the entire season on loan at Fratton Park and I will of course keep you updated on his progress throughout the campaign.
