Havard Nordtveit was officially unvieled as a Salamanca player today, and has been handed the no.3 shirt at Arsenal’s Spanish link club. He is initially set to only spend six months with the Liga BBVA side although this could be extended at a later date. Prior to his move, he spoke to arsenal.com about his first season at the club, saying

My first season was very good for me, I settled down much better than I expected, although I was unlucky with an injury – but you can never predict these things.

“As a footballer I have become much bigger, my passing has improved and I have learned the value of the training ground. But the most important [thing] is that I settled down off the pitch.

“I have done that and made friends with the players. I have had a very good year and now I have my eyes on the future.

Meanwhile, more youngsters could go out on loan to Championship sides. Kieran Gibbs has been strongly linked with Reading in recent days, and now Royals boss Steve Coppell has confirmed he is looking to bring in a left-sider following Nicky Shorey’s departure. Speaking to Reading’s official website, he said

We do need another left-sider and we have a list of targets that we are working on. I hope I can be unique and say that any business we do will be conducted privately. I don’t want to mention any targets and unsettle people.

In addition, Nacer Barazite’s proposed loan move to Derby looks likely, especially as the Rams have sent young striker Liam Dickinson out on loan themselves.

UPDATE: Barazite’s move to Pride Park has been confirmed by Derby and it’s an initial one month loan with an option to extend it further.
