Coquelin, Wilshere and Vela travel on tour of Austria
Posted by Jeorge Bird on July 22, 2008
Arsenal youngsters Francis Coquelin and Jack Wilshere have travelled with the first-team squad for their pre-season tour of Austria. Carlos Vela is also included after he missed Saturday’s win over Barnet with a slight injury. The Gunners take on Szombathelyi Haladas in Hungary tonight before a further game against Burgenland XI next Monday. New signing Samir Nasri has also made the trip, although he is not expected to start tonight’s match. Other notable inclusions include Robin van Persie, who was previously rumoured to have picked up an injury in a charity match, and Philippe Senderos and Lukasz Fabianski who both travelled to Euro 2008. It is expected that a young side will start the match with some stronger players coming on in the second half, which means that the likes of Justin Hoyte and Aaron Ramsey should get another run-out. Theo Walcott could also feature, whilst several sources are claiming that Jay Simpson has made the trip. Tonight’s game is live on Arsenal TV, Sky channel 435. You can view pictures of the players in training here.

Good pre-season work out, hard game with a few positives, Couquelin was once again very very good, Ramsey had a quite game, Vella did ok for a first game with id new team mates, Lansbury needs to work a lot harder to get his fitness back, Denilson had a good game, Randell was lazey and to often not bothering to move or make a tackle to get the ball and not passing when others are in a better positon, he needs to take stock of the new boy Couquelin otherwise he’ll get left behind.
