Nasri deal confirmed as Falcao chase hots up

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Arsenal officially confirmed the capture of French midfielder Samir Nasri this morning, who arrives from Marseille on an undisclosed fee. The transfer had been dragging on for quite some time and it was initially thought that he would sign before Euro 2008, but then it was revealed that we would have to wait until after the tournament for official confirmation. It has only just been confirmed now as he was away on holiday. He’s a creative player and will add something to the side and becomes our second summer signing, following on from the arrival of Aaron Ramsey a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the race to sign River Plate striker Falcao seems to be gathering pace, with the player himself admitting that it would be a dream to sign for Arsenal.

“I know there is interest from Arsenal and that excites me.

“If there is an agreement between the clubs I’m ready to go. It would mean a huge leap forward in my career.

“I can guarantee my financial future. The Premier League is sensational.”

However, Manchester United are also reportedly tracking him so it will be interesting to see what happens on this one.

Finally, ex-Arsenal ‘keeper Graham Stack has been handed a trial at Plymouth after being released by Reading. Good luck to him.

More tomorrow.

There’s no chase, you pay the money and get the player, if you want him.

Would be impressed if we signed him, Jeorge at the moment only the player has stipulated that he would like to join us - are there any other reports indicating that we are interested in him?(apart from the sun!)

it seems like we’ll fight it out with Manchester for

    - Roque Santa Cruz
    - Falcao
    - Huntelaar

    have I missed anybody?

i think most of the reports just copied what the sun wrote so i don’t think so. but if the player has actually said those things then there must be something in it.

Nasri is a great signing and Huntelaar is by far a lethal finisher than the cunt Ademoney who need a map to find the back of the net. Sell him fast and get Klaas.

The most hilarious thing is there are headlines by the dozen, day after day, about “Arsenal battling United” or “Arsenal in chase with Chelsea” for so-and-so.

Let me type this slowly and clearly for the particularly thick blogsters who struggle to find the on-off switch every day…

ARSENAL DO NOT ENGAGE IN BIDDING WARS FOR PLAYERS. FULL STOP.

Sorry, should I make that just a wee bit clearer?

I can’t believe any Gooner with an IQ above an eggplant would believe media or blog crap about “battles” with various clubs for this superstar or that one.

Wenger does NOT do it. Ever.

All these so-called “battles” create is an artificial market where teams pay way over the odds for someone in the heat of the moment — hey Spuds, how’s Bent working out then?

Chelsea and United are a different story, because they simply don’t care. They just go order whoever they want, like picking up something at M&S.

Beyond those two and perhaps Real Madrid — who are admitting to being a bit stretched themselves — everyone else has to maintain some type of budget. And yet the same teams (Spurs and Liverpool jump quickly to mind) pay FAR too much for players because they get all excited about the chase itself.

Spurs you can understand, but Liverpool’s just as bad. Rafa’s about to get raped in the Gareth Barry deal because, somehow, he doesn’t get it that he’s only bidding against himself.

Villa are playing him like a cello. It’s kind of funny.

Back to what matters: Arsene Wenger would never be caught anywhere NEAR a situation like that, which is why he was never going to be serious about Barry or any established English player.

So whenever you see that “Arsenal battles such-and-such for…” headline, please save yourself the time.

The gaffer is probably in Belize or Mongolia at that very moment, spending 100 quid to sign a guy who will lead the Prem in scoring two years from now.

yeah this is good news for we arsenal fans and i hope the coming nasri is going put arsenal to fight for the trophy next season. and for falco let him just decide coz arsenal is the future for his football.

tino, nasri is no.8. mputu had a trial at olympiakos is may, i don’t know what happened to him after that. As for falcao he has an impressive scoring record, 38 goals in 58 games but where he will end up i’m not too sure.
