Gilbert set for Leicester loan?, Reserve fixtures announced

Posted by Jeorge Bird on July 9, 2008

Arsenal full-back Kerrea Gilbert is rumoured to be a loan target for League One club Leicester City. Having spent the entire 2006/2007 season at Cardiff City, he joined Southend in a loan deal at the start of last season. However he returned to Arsenal after falling out with the coaching staff. Now speculation is rife that Kerrea, who has made nine first-team appearances for the Arsenal first team, could be set for a loan spell with the Foxes. It doesn’t seem as if there is a lot of authority connected to this link but seeing as his first-team opportunities with the Gunners are limited, it seems possible. We will have to wait and see what happens on this one but I suspect there is something in it.

In other news the Reserve fixtures for next season have been announced. Banfield’s side will face Chelsea in their opening fixture at Underhill and round off the campaign with a trip to face Spurs. In relation to the senior Premier League Reading, Birmingham and Derby have been relegated and replaced by just two teams in Stoke and West Brom with the other Premier League new-boys Hull joining the North section which means Arsenal will play two less games than last season.

More tomorrow.
