Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury is back to full fitness and is ready for the new season. The England under-19 international missed the second half of the last campaign after he developed glandular fever. It was a massive dissapointment for Henri who had demonstrated his huge potential in the 5-1 demolition of Burnley in the FA Youth Cup. Prior to that, he had made his first-team debut in the Carling Cup victory over Sheffield United. It was thought that a poor attitude would hold him back but he has battled through and is determined to make his mark next season, starting with the first pre-season friendly against Barnet in 12 days time. Henri signed his first professional contract last week and is tipped to feature in the first-team next season.
Most of the youngsters returned to training today with the first-team expecting to come back tomorrow. In transfer news, Ruben de la Red has been linked to us. Spurs and Aston Villa are also apparently interested in him so there’s not much competition but I highly doubt that we will spend £15 million especially with Nasri’s arrival imminent. Miguel Veloso has again been linked but we’re packed for midfielders already so I don’t see that happening. Finally, new signing Aaron Ramsey has been speaking about his move tothe club and how he wants to try and get in the starting line-up for the first game of the season against West Brom. He’s an ambititous lad and that attitude could get us far.
More tomorrow.
