Fran Merida- Ukraine 1 Spain 3

Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida was in action last night as Spain overcame Ukraine 3-1 in their first qualifying game for the UEFA u-19 European Championships, which will be held in the Czech Republic this summer. Spain went behind after 18 minutes when Andri Iarmolenko dispatched a penalty for the Ukranians. However, Emilio Nsue’s goal four minutes later meant that the two sides went into the break all square. Aaron Niguez put Spain ahead on 61 minutes, before Nsue struck again in stoppage time to seal the win. Spain are joint top of Group 7 with Turkey, who they play tomorrow. Their final fixture is against Armenia three days later.
