Pjanic snubs Arsenal for Lyon; Merida, P.Botelho in action

Posted by Jeorge Bird on May 17, 2008

First up, Arsenal target Miralem Pijanic looks set to snub the Gunners to join Lyon, after the player’s father revealed that a deal had been agreed with the French club.

The agreement will be signed between Monday and Thursday

Pjanic was also linked to Barcelona, but has opted against joining the Catalan giants

Regarding the current turbulences at the club, it would not be the best solution, said about a possible move to Barca.

From what I’ve seen of him, he certainly looks like a decent player and would certainly suit Arsenal’s style of play. However, with the likes of Merida and Wilshere already at the club, would we really need him?

Now on to the loan news.

Fran Merida- Real Sociedad 2 Granada 74 0

Fran started the game for Sociedad as they took on Granada 74. Victor gave the hosts the lead on 75 minutes, before Marti’s goal four minutes from time sealed the win.

Pedro Botelho- Real Sporting de Gijon 0 Salamanca 0

Pedro came on for the last two minutes as Salamanca were held to a goalless draw by Gijon.

Carlos Vela- Racing Santander v Osasuna

Carlos is expected to be named in the Osasuna squad for tomorrow’s crucial game against Racing Santander. Osasuna need a victory to ensure their La Liga status. Check back tomorrow to see how Carlos got on.

what is the betting that this is because ben arfa will be released to us

  2. bertie wooster said

yeah, but it still would have been nice to get pjanic. looks like we’re going to have to wait a couple of years by which time pjanic will join barca for about 20 million…

    HE IS BEN ARFA’S REPLACEMENT!!!

Apparently Ben Arfa is leaving. Destination is not 100% confirmed yet. However SAMIR NASRI is also leaving so either one/ or both are coming to Arsenal.

I would love to see both but don’t see that happening!

I will get more news from Pepe Nouvelle tomorrow to see what more I can tell you.

  4. Kayo Burgess said

Yup. Pepe Nouvelle has spoken out in the French media.
Reports say that Ben Arfa’s deal is done… but not sure who with. As for Nasri… they say maybe Lyon/ Arsenal. Its unclear as yet.
Guess we will have to wait on news.

    We dont need him.

The stories coming out of France is that a swap deal with Nasri and Ben Arfa is on the cards. That would mean us missing out on both players, would be typical Arsenal.

It won’t be both Samir and Ben Arfa as they dislike each other.

    ROBINHO is ready to sign!!!!!!!!!!!

Spanish media spotted Robinho on Friday night having lunch with an Arsenal scout at the fish club restayrant in Madrid.

Really good news. I knew he has fallen out with Real Management but for us to get him will be brill.

    ROBINHO TO ARSENAL!!!!!

    Janno,

Nasri and Ben Arfa have nothing against each other….

You are confusing them with Ben Arfa and Benzema mate.

I also got wind of that Robinho story. Don’t know what to beleive. However, it was also on the back pages of a couple of national Spanish papers so we will have to see.

Robhino to Arsenal… I really do hope!

Robinho is light years ahead of Ben Arfa and Nasri !!, so I do hope we are going for him.

Both of the French lads will command huge fees and I dont think they are worth that money at the moment; we would be paying for potential while Robinhio is the finished product.

I would argue that our squad has enough of the “young potential” players and really needs more of the experienced, finished product players like Robinho.

yup. its official. just spoke to a mate of mine in Spain.

Robinho was with seen him in Madrid and it is a big story over there. He is beleived to have fallen out with Real Madrid’s management and wants to leave this summer. As Real are apparently going to get Ronaldo for a record fee and a few other players they need some cash to balance the books.

It looks like he’s leaving Spain after the summer. Whatever happens we are def in the running.

Hopefully they have got this one right and dont screw up on his contract terms.

Robinho to Arsenal. Its what dreams are made of.

    YHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Austingunner said

Well who would want him if he’s chosing that side over us???? Definitely shows a sign of a lack of intelligence ;-)

  15. Austingunner said

Robinho is too too small and doesn’t have the physique to be successful in a premiership side. It’s just too physical.

  16. anelka said

robhino has every chance of succeeding if he comes to the premiership… small players like walcott, gareth bale, michael owen, rosicky have all shown that they can do well in the premiership.

I hope arsenal sign aaron baley… he reminds me of joe cole and will most likely be a lot better than joe cole.

    what do u think?

  17. thenry said

what r u lot on about re robhinio? hes not leaving madrid. it all bollox, fantasy stuff.

  18. AFC53 said

Robinho isnt an AW type of player and the boss will not spend 20million on on player when he can 3 for the same price.

We will have to stick for Super – Eboue the one man collosus!!!!

    Dark days ahead methinks
