SUNDAY’S MATCHES

Carlos Vela- Valladolid 0 Osasuna 0

Carlos was once again in action for Osasuna, as they took on Valladolid in La Liga this afternoon. Here’s how the two teams lined up:

———-Valladolid—————-

————-Asenjo—————-

-Cifuentes—Inaki Bea—–Garcia Calvo—-Oscar

-Camacho—–Vivar Dorado—-Rubio——Sisi

————-Kome———————-

————Llorente——————–

subs: Lopez Fernandes, Manchev, Ogbeche, Sesma, Baraja (for Inaki Bea 61), Capdevilla (for Kome 62), Victor (for Sisi 75)

Booked: Camacho

————Osasuna-——————-

————Ricardo——————

Azpilicueta—Cruchaga——Romero—-Monreal

Torres——Astudillo——Javi Garcia—-Plasil

—————-Vela———————-

—————-Sola———————-

subs: Flano (for Torres 48), Viana (for Vela 89), Portillo, Font, Elia, Flano, Dady (for Sola 72)

Booked: Font

Carlos played 89 minutes as Osasuna were held to a goalless draw. Playing just behind lone striker Sola, Carlos looked lively in the first half and tested the ‘keeper with a fiercely struck shot. However, despite Osasuna’s domination of the game, Valladolid were no pushovers and stuck to their task. With less than 20 minutes remaining, Osasuna looked to substitute Dady to get the vital goal and he replaced Sola. He linked up well with Carlos on a couple of occasions but the end product was just not there. As a measure of their growing frustration, Osasuna had substitute Font go into the book with moments remaining. Shortly after, Carlos was replaced by former Newcastle striker Hugo Viana who had too little time to make an impact. The result leaves Osasuna in 13th place and they are not completely clear of relegation yet, although they should be too strong to go down.

Pedro Botelho- Salamanca 1 Cordoba 1

Pedro didn’t feature as Salamanca were held to a 1-1 draw by Cordoba. The visitors took the lead through Alvarez on 63 minutes, but Martin struck to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

Mark Randall- Burnley 1 Wolves 3

Mark came on 15 minutes from time as Burnley were defeated 3-1 at home to Wolves. The Clarets went behind on 14 minutes when Seyi Olofinjana struck for the visitors. Wolves doubled their advantage two minutes from time when Michael Gray found the back of the net. A Sylvan Ebanks-Blake strike on 56 minutes ended the game as a contest. However, Burnley did pull back a consolation goal with Ade Akinbyi notching 14 minutes from time. The result leaves Burnley in 12th place in the Championship.

Kieran Gibbs- Sheffield United 2 Norwich 0

Kieran started for Norwich but didn’t have the best of afternoons as the Canaries struggled to get to terms with the Sheffield outfit. Two goals in the space of four minutes won it for the hosts; first Billy Sharp scored to put United 1-0 up and then Matthew Kilgallon struck to give them a two goal cushion. Kieran was booked for unsporting behaviour on 59 minutes and was replaced by Lee Croft three minutes later. Norwich are now in 18th place and in danger of slipping into the relegation zone.

Jay Simpson- Millwall 0 Leyton Orient 1

Jay played 75 minutes as Millwall lost 1-0 to Leyton Orient. Wayne Gray scored the game’s only goal on 50 minutes and the dismissal of Marc Laird for the Lions eight minutes later made it an uphill struggle for the Lions. The defeat leaves them in 18th place in League One.

Fran Merida- Real Sociedad 0 Numancia 1

Fran started the game on the bench as Sociedad lost at home to Numancia. He made a last minute substitute appearance.

FRIDAY’S MATCHES

Vincent van den Berg- Go Ahead Eagles 1 RBC Roosendaal 2

Vincent did not feature as Go Ahead Eagles lost at home to RBC Roosendaal.
