Premier League to go global- What has happened to the game we love?
I know this site is mainly for discussion on Arsenal reserves and youths, but I felt I just had to have my say on this matter. What the hell is this about you may be asking? Well, the Premier League has decided that from the 2010/11 season onwards, the Premier League season will be extended to cater for ten games to be played in a ‘international round’ in January. As if fixture congestion isn’t a problem already. But the worst thing is, these games are set to take place halfway across the world, in places like America, China and even Australia. Imagine how tired the players would be then. I can honestly say that I’m not suprised at all by this ludicrous campaign but what I am suprised with is that the Premier League clubs have agreed to this matter. Surely they were backed into a corner. Who’s going to bother going all the way to America to watch Arsenal v Everton? It’s absolute madness. How much money do they want to make? It’s not confirmed yet, but we need to start a campaign now, to stop things getting out of control.
In other news, Nacer Barazite was on target for Holland u-19s against Scotland last night. Hopefully he’ll be on target against Southampton in the u-18s on Saturday.
Thanks for reading and there’ll be more tomorrow.
